One in 4 women and 1 in 9 men will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes.  Organizations that help individuals and families to escape domestic violence know all too well the dangers that can occur when leaving an abusive relationship and even after someone has left. KATANA Safety supports the work that these organizations do to interrupt the cycle of violence and prevent more violence from occurring by equipping their staff in the field who may encounter an abuser; assisting their clients after they’ve left an abusive relationship, and providing fundraising opportunities so they can continue the much needed work that they do. There are approximately 1.5 million victims of human trafficking in the United States and the problem continues to grow. The average age of victims is between 11 and 14.
